The shortest month of the year sees Madrid becoming the world capital of contemporary art and design. Yes, February is the perfect time for art-lovers to visit the city and to attend ARCOmadrid, one of the most important Contemporary Art Fairs in the world.
Taking advantage of this world recognized event and the many visitors that come to the fair, Madrid becomes the capital of contemporary art offering a full program of exhibits, artistic shows and alternative art fairs that have managed to position themselves in the international scene. Madrid's leading museums and art centers also extend some of their most important exhibitions so that they coincide with the recognized event.
If you are considering designing a short study trip for your art students, I would highly recommend that you do take into consideration the many options and possibilities that Madrid has to offer in February. This month, Madrid has something for everyone, just like Venice Biennale or Art Basel, many smaller satellite events are happening around the same time as the main event.
Finally, don’t be scared by the temperatures. Compared to other European countries, winter in Madrid is very nice and you will be able to spend most of the day outside. Believe it or not, trees are already blooming, and you can enjoy sitting in the sun.

ARCOmadrid is Madrid’s International Contemporary Art Fair. It is one of the main contemporary art fairs on the international circuit and is held every February in the Spanish capital. More than two hundred galleries from 30 countries gather at the 38th edition of ARCOmadrid, with Peru its guest country.
Along with the contents of the galleries, ARCOmadrid will present other spaces that will help broaden visitors' vision of contemporary art.

JustMAD celebrates its tenth edition establishing itself as one of the avant-garde references within the emergent art scene in Spain. The fair acts as an exhibition platform that brings together more than 50 galleries from countries around the world.

Art Madrid celebrates its fourteenth edition in the Crystal Gallery of Centro Cibeles, with more than 40 national and international galleries and nearly 200 artists. This year, the wide and varied proposal of Art Madrid stands out for its increasingly international character and the greater contemporaneity of the artistic selections.
February 6th to March 8th
More than 50 national and international artists take part in FLECHA, a reference in the artistic and cultural life of Madrid that now celebrates its 29th edition. More than 500 works of contemporary art will be exhibited, including paintings, engravings, drawings, ceramics, sculptures, and photography, by both emerging and established artists.
The FLECHA (ARROW) event was born in 1991, promoted by a group of artists who were looking for new ways to exhibit and commercialize their works.
